Passion Record Third Consecutive Shutout In Cleveland Saturday

It was a scoreless game for the first quarter and a half until Angela Baker ran in for a touchdown from 4-yards out. The Passion added on one more touchdown before the end of the half when Baker found Krystal Cozzo for an 8-yard touchdown pass and the Passion went into the half with a 14-0 lead.

Baker opened the scoring in the 2nd half with a 1-yard touchdown run. Devon Conner added on for the Passion with a 75 yard touchdown run of her own and Baker found Jana Meister with a 12 yard touchdown pass. Arielle Smith closed out the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run and the Passion defeat Cleveland 40-0 to improve to 4-1.

The Passion are now on a 3-game winning streak and 3 consecutive shutout streak. The 3 consecutive shutouts tie a team record.

On offense, Krystal Cozzo now has at least one touchdown in each of the first 5 games. The offensive line of Kim Zubovic, Sam Simeone, Kaitlain Niedermeyer, Morgan Cross and Erica Shoecraft continued to give Baker time to throw and open up holes for Arielle Smith and Kia Foster in the running game.

The defense has been steller on this three game shutout streak with contributions from Hannah Daman, Niedermeyer, Zubovic, Amanda Coles, Ashley DiCicco, Rebecca Ehrgood, Devon Conner, Kellie Bell, Julie Ionta, Tenisha Spencer, Lizz Costanzo and Diamond Rodriguez.

The Passion (4-1) turn their focus now to the D.C Divas next Saturday May 18 as they close out their regular season home schedule at Joe P. DeMichela Stadium.

Tickets for Passion Home Games are $15 for adults, $10 for students/seniors/military and Children 5 and under are free.
