Passion-D.C Split Regular Season Series,  Cleveland Up Next After Bye

Saturday Night’s Passion and D.C matchup lived up to everything you would expect from this historic rivalry.  The Passion opened up the scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run by Montgomery after a 34 yard Interception return by Baker set up the offense with great field position.  The game remained 7-0 until midway through the 2nd Quarter when D.C ran it in from a yard out to tie the game and at the Half the game remained tied at 7.

Both defenses showed up big time Saturday night and both offenses were challenged to get anything going consistently.  Kaitlain Niedermeyer led the Passion defense with 11 tackles and supplied the pressure all night on D.C’s offense along with Zubovic, Cross, Ionta, Edmunds, Tia Montgomery, Smith and Daman.  The Secondary made big plays throughout the night and Baker led the way with 2 interceptions, a pass deflection and 3 tackles.

D.C was able to break through in the 4th Quarter with two touchdowns however.  Horton found Wojdowski on a 46 yard catch and run to cut the D.C lead in half, but the Divas were able to hold on for the 21-13 victory.

On offense tonight, Lisa Horton threw for 133 yards and a touchdown.  Rachel Wojdowski had 55 yards receiving and a touchdown. And Ebony Montgomery scored the first touchdown of the game when she ran it in from a yard.

The Passion have a bye week this Saturday before closing out the regular season at home against the Cleveland Fusion on June 9 at 6:30 pm
