High Flying Offense, Stifling Defense Improve Passion To 3-1

The Pittsburgh Passion got on the board early in the first quarter when Alyssa George found Jana Meister to open the scoring in the first and this same connection got together again early in the second quarter to extend the Passion lead. Brandy Polinick would find her way into the endzone midway through the 2nd quarter and George would run one in herself to give the Passion a 28-0 lead at the Half.

After a Jasmin Jones Interception midway through the 3rd Quarter, Marcelina Chavez would take the toss and run it 51 yards to the endzone to extend the Passion lead. Columbus would add a rushing touchdown late in the 4th quarter which would give us the final score of 35-6 and the Passion improve to 3-1 on the season.

Alyssa George led the way on offense as she threw for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jana Meister was on the receiving end of those 2 touchdowns with her 51 receiving yards. Chavez led the way on the ground as she rushed for 76 yards and a Touchdown. Polinick and George added a rushing touchdown each.

On the defensive side of the ball, it was an all out effort as they didn’t allow Columbus to get anything going and frustrated the Chaos all night. Hannah Daman led the way with 11 tackles along with Devon Peace (8 tackles), Kim Zubovic (6 tackles) and Kaitlain Niedermeyer (5 tackles). Jones added 5 tackles along with her Interception and on the other side of the secondary Rebecca Ehrgood added an interception of her own along with a pass breakup.

The Passion return home next Saturday to Joe P. DeMichela Stadium when the Detroit Venom make their return trip to Pittsburgh after the Passion opened this season with a victory in Detroit. Kickoff is at 6 pm and we can’t wait to be back in front of our home fans.
