Passion Enter Bye Week Preparing for Grand Rapids Tidal Waves

April 15, 2019

The Pittsburgh Passion enters their bye week 1-1 after their first loss of the 2019 season against long-time rival, the D.C. Divas.

Through tenacity and grit, the Passion bested the Divas 16-13 going into into the 2nd quarter. Quarterback Angela Baker contributed heavily to the team’s success, with a 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Krystal Cozzo and a 6-yard touchdown run.

At the end of the 2nd quarter, Baker suffered a lower body injury and was forced to the sidelines. Back up quarterback Kara Prentice took the field and connected with wide receiver Jana Meister for a 4-yard touchdown pass.

While the Passion put forth their best effort, the Divas would end scoring at 54-22 in favor of the home team.

Angela Baker combined for 89 yards and contributed two touchdowns. Kia Foster ran for 88 yards, making her only the 8th player in Passion history to rush for over 1,000 career yards.

On defense, Hannah Daman recorded 10 tackles and Kaitlain Neidermeyer had 7 tackles and 1 sack. Krystal Cozzo and Tenisha Spencer each had 6 tackles. Spencer also contributed an interception. Amanda Coles recovered a fumble.

The Passion look to use their bye week to return to the practice field and perfect their play. Head coach Teresa Conn feels optimistic about the rest of the season.

“I am excited about this season because of the players and staff,” said Conn. “This weekend was a tremendous bonding and building experience to drive us moving forward.”

The Passion will return to action Saturday, April 27, against the Grand Rapids Tidal Waves. The game will be held at Joe P. DeMichela Stadium in Imperial, PA. For more information, please visit www.pittsburghpassion.com.
