Passion defeat Cleveland 36-20 Saturday to Improve to 3-0

The Passion opened up the scoring tonight on a 15 yard pass from Masters to Baker, followed by a 2 point conversion to Horton to go up 8-0. Cleveland answered with a touchdown pass of their own to make it 8-7. Kim Beaver then returned an Interception 59 yards to put the Passion up 14-7. The Passion defense recorded a Safety and Chelsea Zahn recovered a fumble in the endzone to put Pittsburgh up 22-7. Cleveland added another touchdown and the Passion lead 22-13 at the Half.

O’Neil added a 13 yard touchdown run to open up the scoring in the 2nd half for the Passion. Cleveland added another touchdown pass and Kia Foster ran it 92 yards for a touchdown. The Final Score was Passion 36 – Cleveland 20.

Offensive leaders tonight were Masters who threw for 165 yards and a touchdown. Foster led the way on the ground with 112 yards and a Passion record 92 yard touchdown run. And Baker led the receivers with 83 yards and a touchdown.

The defense was led by tremendous pressure from the defensive line of Chelsea Zahn, Kaitlain Niedermeyer, Kim Zubovic and Kiara Keys. Zahn led the way with 7 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and a touchdown. Zubovic and Montgomery with 8 tackles each, and Niedermeyer with 4. Kim Beaver returned an Interception for a touchdown and added 3 tackles.

Kicker Alyssa Furlong and the kickoff team continued to pin the opposing team deep to start their drives.

The Passion travel to Detroit this Saturday (April 22) to take on the Detroit Dark Angels at 7 pm.
