Pittsburgh holds Holyoke to two first downs in victory.
The Pittsburgh Passion improved to 7-0 with a 54-6 victory over the Holyoke, MA Hurricanes. Lisa Horton threw a touchdown pass on the second play of the first two Passion possessions. She connected with Wilma Walton on a 13 yard strike and followed it up with a 26 yard pass to Lori Johnson to open up a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Amanda Haeg, who rushed for 69 yards on six carries, opened the second stanza scoring with the first of our three first half touchdowns on the day. QB Kara Prentice also scored on a one yard run for the Passion who led 42-0 at halftime. RB Jen Hoffman ran down the right side and 71 yards later found herself in the end zone for a 48-6 Pittsburgh advantage. Valerie Rizzo made the best of our lone carry of the game with a 19 yard touchdown to close out the scoring.

The Passion defense again came up with a great effort, led by Trumane Rogers. She led the team with ten tackles in addition to a fumble recovery. Tia Montgomery added eight tackles while Jen Dulski and Olivia Griswold each recorded a sack on defense. Pittsburgh will end the regular season next week with a visit to our nation's capital to take on the D.C. Divas (4-3). Pittsburgh has already clinched the North Atlantic Division and if they win next week, will host a playoff game on Saturday June 28th against a team to be determined. The Pittsburgh Passion are members of the Independent Women's Football League and plays their home games at Cupples Stadium on the south side of Pittsburgh.
