Before hitting the road for the next month, the Passion (4-0) have one more regular season home game this Saturday, April 29 at 7 pm against the Philadelphia Phantomz.

Passion run their way to 4-0 with victory over Detroit

Passion Run Their Way To 4-0 With Victory Over Detroit

On a warm night in Detroit, the scoring started with a 23 yard TD run by Kia Foster. Gabby O’Neil added a 29 yard TD run and Janice Masters connected on a 14 yard TD pass to Lisa Horton before the end of the 1st Quarter. In the 2nd Quarter, Passion touchdowns were scored on a 53 yard run by Foster, a 29 and 15 yard pass from Masters to Angela Baker and a 26 yard pass from Horton to Courtney Bender. The Passion led 56-6 at the half.

Passion touchdowns in the 2nd half were a 9 yard run by Tara Catone and a 7 yard run by Foster. The Final Score was Passion 72 to Detroit 6.

Offensive leaders tonight were Janice Masters who threw for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lisa Horton threw for 41 yards and a touchdown. Horton also had 6 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. Kia Foster had 122 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns and Tara Catone added 57 yards and a rushing touchdown. Angela Baker had 53 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Jana Meister added 50 receiving yards.

The defense was led by Kaitlyn Niedermeyer, Kim Zubovic, Hannah Daman, Chelsea Zahn, Tia Montgomery and Kim Dreischalik providing tremendous pressure up front and giving Detroit no time to make a play. Zubovic and Zahn added 3 sacks, Baker had an interception and Keys had a fumble recovery to lead the way on the defensive side of the ball.

The Passion return home next weekend to host the Philadelphia Phantomz at Joe P. DeMichela Stadium in Imperial at 7 pm.

Passion defeat Cleveland 36-20 Saturday to Improve to 3-0

The Passion opened up the scoring tonight on a 15 yard pass from Masters to Baker, followed by a 2 point conversion to Horton to go up 8-0. Cleveland answered with a touchdown pass of their own to make it 8-7. Kim Beaver then returned an Interception 59 yards to put the Passion up 14-7. The Passion defense recorded a Safety and Chelsea Zahn recovered a fumble in the endzone to put Pittsburgh up 22-7. Cleveland added another touchdown and the Passion lead 22-13 at the Half.

O’Neil added a 13 yard touchdown run to open up the scoring in the 2nd half for the Passion. Cleveland added another touchdown pass and Kia Foster ran it 92 yards for a touchdown. The Final Score was Passion 36 – Cleveland 20.

Offensive leaders tonight were Masters who threw for 165 yards and a touchdown. Foster led the way on the ground with 112 yards and a Passion record 92 yard touchdown run. And Baker led the receivers with 83 yards and a touchdown.

The defense was led by tremendous pressure from the defensive line of Chelsea Zahn, Kaitlain Niedermeyer, Kim Zubovic and Kiara Keys. Zahn led the way with 7 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and a touchdown. Zubovic and Montgomery with 8 tackles each, and Niedermeyer with 4. Kim Beaver returned an Interception for a touchdown and added 3 tackles.

Kicker Alyssa Furlong and the kickoff team continued to pin the opposing team deep to start their drives.

The Passion travel to Detroit this Saturday (April 22) to take on the Detroit Dark Angels at 7 pm.

Passion ​Rush their way to 2-0 with Victory over Baltimore

The Passion set a team record with 358 rushing yards in a single game. The scoring started early with a Gabby​ O’Neil 46 yard touchdown run to put the Passion up 8-0. Kia Foster added a 33 yard run to make it 14-3 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Touchdowns in the 2nd Quarter were an O’Neil 76 yard punt return, 14 yard pass from ​Janice ​Masters to Lisa ​Horton, 1 yard run by O’Neil, 2 yard run by Foster and a 9 yard pass from Masters to Horton. The Passion led 50-3 at the Half.

The Passion added 2 more touchdowns on a 71 yard kickoff return by O’Neil and a 23 yard run by Hieb. The Final Score was Passion 65-17.

Offensive leaders tonight were running backs Foster rushing for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns and O’Neil with 70 yards and two touchdowns. ​ Masters threw 2 touchdowns, Horton and Angela Baker combined for 6 receptions, 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. ​The offensive line of Niedermeyer, Ferragonio, Sullivan, Simeone and Zubovic paved the way.​

The defense was led by Hannah Daman with 8 tackles (2 for losses), Kim Beaver with 7 tackles (1 for loss) and Chelsea Zahn ​with​ 4 (2 for loss) and 2 sack​s. The defensive line ​of Niedermeyer, Zubovic, Drieschalick, Montgomery and Zahn ​​kept incredible pressure all game. ​

On Special Teams O’Neil became the 1st Passion player to return a punt and kick return for touchdowns in the same game. Rebecca Ehrgood, Santana Ramsey and Courtney Bender led the way on Kickoffs to help pin Baltimore deep to start their drives.

The Passion (2-0) return to action next week (April 15) against the Cleveland Fusion at Joe P. DeMichela Stadium at 7 pm.

Passion Kickoff 2017 Season with 30-19 Win

On a cold spring night in Pittsburgh, the Passion opened their 15th season against the Columbus Comets. The scoring opened with Janice Masters finding Lisa Horton on a 17 yard Touchdown pass followed by a 2 point conversion from Masters to Angela Baker to go up 8-0. Columbus then forced a safety to make it 8-2. The score remained the same until Gabrielle O’Neil broke an 85 yard run, the longest in Passion history, to extend the Passion’s lead to 16-2. Comets answered with a field goal to end the half at 16-5.

With 1:34 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Krystal Cozzo returned an interception 52 yards for the touchdown. O’Neil punched in a 1 yard run with 5:50 to go in the 4th, Columbus punched back with a touchdown, making it 30-13, followed by another Columbus score to make it 30-19. The Passion won the game 30-19.

Offensive leaders tonight were Janice Masters who threw for 109 yards and 1 touchdown. Running Back Gabrielle O’Neil had 11 carries for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lisa Horton and Angela Baker combined for 11 receptions, 114 yards and 1 touchdown.

Defensive standouts were Baker with 2 interceptions and Cozzo with 1, providing key turnovers in the game. Leading tacklers tonight were Kaitlain Niedermeyer, Tia Montgomery, Kim Zubovic, Alana Fields, and Chelsea Zahn.

This Saturday the Pittsburgh​ Passion will kickoff their 15th season against the Columbus Comets​. 2017 is the 10th anniversary of their first undefeated National Championship that was won against the Comets in Nashville in 2007. This is a long standing rivalry so don’t miss the action in their season opener together this Saturday.

2017 Pittsburgh Passion Schedule

The Pittsburgh Passion will celebrate their 15th anniversary this season.  The team has been practicing  since January 3rd preparing for another run at a championship this season.

The season opener on April 1st will be at home against Columbus.  April will be an exciting time as the Passion have 4 home games that month, also welcoming Baltimore, Cleveland, and Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.  Our road trips this season will be to Detroit, Boston, Columbus and Washington D.C.

We look forward to seeing you at the games.
