A ten-year veteran who cut her teeth leading the Tampa Bay Inferno to greatness, Marcelina Chavez has proven to be just as solid under center with the Passion. In her third season in Pittsburgh, the Punxsutawney resident had a breakout season, going 47-82 for 531 passing yards and five touchdowns.

Boston Renegades vs Pittsburgh Passion Women's Football National Conference Championship played at Pine-Richland High School on July, 13 2024.

Passion Advance to National Conference Championship After Thrilling Win Over Tampa Bay!

The Pittsburgh Passion (7-0) advance to the National Conference Game with prime win over Tampa Bay

The Passion won a hard fought battle to advance in the playoffs on their quest for Canton. Offensively, Running back Devon Peace had a phenomenal game dodging and spinning her way, moving the chains, grinding out 194 rushing yards and 2 TD's. Emma Gurly, in her second game as QB, continues to show amazing leadership and poise in crucial situations. Gurly went 6 for 8 with 53 yards, and scampered for 61 yards and added 2 TD's. Sarah Paladin added an exciting 13 yards run for a TD. Ellie Mularski added 108 rushing yards, one being an explosive 68 yard rushing TD. Behind an outstanding performance from the OLine, Gurly spread the ball around with completions to Kodie Johnson, Jana Meister, Bethany Meyer and Mularski.

Defensively, DT, Kaitlyn Niedermeyer led the battle with 9 tackles, FS, Danasha Harris added 6 more followed by Chris Guraya, Kim Zubovic, Ashley DiCicco, Chance Willis, and Kellie Bell with 5. Jas Jones added in 2 more and a thrilling interception in Tampa's endzone. Teona Cash ended the night with 3 solo tackles and sack.

Special Teams, led by kicker Kodie Johnson tacked on 3 of 4 PAT's and a 2 point conversion also to Johnson.

The Passion move on to the National Conference Championship game on July 13th at Pine Richland Stadium against the Boston Renegades. Kickoff 6PM. Tickets available at the gate.

Passion roll on to 6-0 with huge win over Columbus Chaos on the road 63-0

The Passion achieved a convincing 63-0 victory over New York, improving their record to 6-0 for the season with awesome play in all three aspects of the game once again. Special Teams played lights out, going 9 for 9 on PAT and only punting the ball once.
The Passion's offense was firing on all cylinders, led by rookie QB Emma Gurly who had an impressive debut with 104 passing yards and 3 TDs. She also contributed with 30 rushing yards. The team utilized fast tempo, trick plays, and execution to move the ball effectively down the field. Players like Devon Peace, Ellie Mularski, Sara Paladin, and Jana Meister also made significant contributions to the offensive success, helping the team surpass the 250+ yard mark once again.
Defense was outstanding, keeping the Columbus Chaos scoreless throughout the game. Players like Teona Cash, Kim Zubovic, Kaitlyn Niedermeyer, Ashley DiCicco, Dee Harris, and Grace Dadzaa made key plays with tackles, interceptions, and even touchdowns. The entire defensive unit, including the front line and secondary, played a crucial role in shutting down the Chaos and securing the shutout victory.

Overall, it was an impressive performance by the Pittsburgh Passion, showcasing their talent and teamwork across all aspects of the game. With this win, they improved their season record to 6-0 and demonstrated that they are a force to be reckoned with in the WFA as they seal their playoff seed at #1.

Passion Defeat Rival Boston for a huge WIN at home 26-21 to stay undefeated at 5-0

The Pittsburgh Passion's triumph over the Boston Renegades was a thrilling showcase of skill, teamwork, and determination. From the opening whistle, the Passion set the tone with their dynamic offense, led by the talented Marcelena Chavez. Chavez's dual-threat ability as a passer and runner kept the Boston defense guessing and allowed the Passion to strike quickly and effectively. Devon Peace continued to shine, adding to her impressive season statistics with two more touchdowns and a strong yardage output. The ground game, also spearheaded by players like Ellie Mularski and Fanica Payne, provided a balanced attack that kept the Renegades' defense off-balance. The “unsung heroes” of the game was the Passion's offensive line, whose stellar blocking created lanes for the running backs and provided Chavez with the time needed to make plays downfield. Their consistency and effectiveness were instrumental in the team's offensive success.

Defensively, the Passion rose to the occasion when it mattered most. Players like Dee Harris, who led the team with 15 tackles and an interception, showcased their tenacity and playmaking ability. Grace Dadzaa's crucial interception late in the game sealed the victory for the Passion, highlighting the defense's ability to come up big in clutch situations. Despite facing a resilient Boston offense in the second half, the Passion's defenders remained composed and made key stops to secure the win. Teona Cash and Ashley DiCicco also made important contributions with their tackles and presence on the field, underscoring the team's depth and defensive prowess.

Passion continue to roll at 4-0 with 38-20 Victory over the Tampa Bay Inferno

The Pittsburgh Passion displayed a commanding performance versus the Inferno showcasing strength on both sides of the ball. From the opening kickoff on Saturday evening, the Passion asserted their dominance and maintained control throughout the game. The offensive unit, led by standout performances from players like Marcelina Chavez and Ellie Mularski, set the tone early in the game. Chavez's remarkable display included three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter alone, with runs of 36, 9, and 20 yards respectively. Mularski also made her mark with a 5-yard touchdown run just before halftime, contributing to the team's impressive offensive output.

A major factor in the Passion's success was the stellar play of the offensive line, as their solid blocking paved the way for the team's rushing attack to excel, keeping the Tampa Bay defense on their heels throughout the game. In addition to Chavez and Mularski's contributions, Devon Peace also had a notable performance, racking up 100 rushing yards. The trio of runners, supported by key receptions from wide receivers Jana Meister, Kodie Johnson, and Bethany Meyer, effectively moved the ball down the field and capitalized on scoring opportunities.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Passion's secondary, led by players like Rebecca Ehrgood, Ashley DeCicco, Jas Jones, and Danasha Harris, put on a stellar performance. They effectively shut down Tampa Bay's passing game, forcing their opponents to rely more heavily on the rushing attack. While Tampa Bay did find some success on the ground in the second half, the Passion defense, anchored by players like Katelyn Polenik, Kaitlain Neidermeyer, Kim Zubovic, Teona Cash, and Christina Garayua, rose to the occasion.

Passion continue to their run with 51-6 Victory Over New York at Cupples Stadium to go 3-0 on the Season

On a beautiful Saturday evening in Pittsburgh at Cupples Stadium, The Passion achieved a convincing 51-6 victory over New York, improving their record to 3-0 for the season with outstanding play in all three aspects of the game. In addition, Kodie Johnson continued to make a huge impact on Special Teams, booting a 67 yard punt to pin the wolves in their own territory.

The team's strong rushing attack, led by Chavez and Peace, along with a solid offensive line and effective special teams play, contributed to their success in the game. Quarterback Marcelina Chavez had an impressive performance with 112 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, and 119 passing yards with a touchdown. Running back Devon Peace also had a notable game with 116 rushing yards and a touchdown. In addition, Wide Receiver’s Jana Meister had 4 receptions for 56 yards and Ellie Mularski had 35 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive side, players like Grace Dadzaa and Kaitlyn Neidermeyer made significant contributions with interceptions, tackles, and sacks. Defensive Lineman Kaitlyn Neidermeyer had 9 tackles, 1 for loss and a sack. The entire defensive unit showcased its strength and teamwork throughout the game, frustrating the opposing team's offense.

These players went above and beyond at practice and made great contributions to our overall convincing team win against the New York Wolves on May 18th at Cupples Stadium.

Passion Defeat the DC Divas 54-29 In Home Opener, Improve To 2-0 for the Season

The Pittsburgh Passion had an incredible home opener and a dominating performance against their rival, the DV Divas! The team showcased great teamwork and individual performances in all three areas of the game – Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

Key players like Devon Peace and Marcellina Chavez really stood out with their impressive performances on the offensive side of the ball. Peace's 258 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, including a Passion record 96-yard touchdown run, along with Chavez's dual-threat ability of running and passing, were crucial to the team's success in scoring points. In addition, the entire offensive line, deserves credit for creating opportunities for the running backs and protecting the quarterback.
On the defensive side, players like Danasha Harris and Katelyn Polenik made significant impacts with their tackles, interceptions, and touchdowns. The entire defensive unit, including the front line and secondary, played a pivotal role in shutting down the Divas' offense and forcing turnovers. In addition, Special Teams was spectacular all night with Kodie Johnson adding in a 35 yard field goal despite the rain.

Overall, it was a complete team effort that led to a convincing victory for the Passion. The momentum from this game will be important as they prepare to face the New York Wolves after the upcoming bye week.

Passion kick off Season Opener with a Huge Victory over the Alabama Fire 36-7

The Pittsburgh Passion open their season with a dominant win over Alabama Fire 36 -7

The Passion offense came out on fire with the return of QB, Marcelina Chavez! Chavez went 8 for 12 in the air for 103 yard and connected with wide receiver Jana Meister 6 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. The dynamic duo were moving the chains all night. On the ground, Devon Peace had 7 carries for 37 yards and a TD! Wide receiver Ellie Mularski had 3 carries for 28 yards and another Passion TD. Defensively, Danasha Harris led the Passion Defense with 10 tackles and returned an interception for a 21 yard TD. Jasmine Jones added another interception, while Ashley DiCicco and Grace Dadzaa each added 5 tackles. Kicker Kodie Johnson was perfect with 4 PATs.
